DOG-PERSPECTIVE

I think these Christmas food marathons also have an impact on the pup, for which I don’t have much time. The daily rhythm is slightly disturbed, which in the life of a pet is something important, guaranteeing, as it seems to me, a sense of security and psychological comfort. Christmas from a dog’s perspective is a disruption of the natural rhythm of life. My pup, for example, may not take a nap all day long because she is busy with a crowd of rarely seen people and the smells coming from the kitchen. There are times when an aunt feeds her Christmas food – despite my repeated explicit requests not to. So Joszka is always in suspense and waits with her aunt’s legs for another tasty morsel … Walks during Christmas have also been different than on a daily basis. Kids have fun going outside with their pets and demand it themselves, but they can’t really take care of the dog. They don’t have the same feeling as I do – they don’t think about Joszka’s needs at the moment, but about theirs. That is why walking with kids is far from ideal – after all, a walk with a dog is about more than just taking care of your pet’s physiological needs! We encourage you to read our articles:

THIS YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT!

I decided that this year’s Easter will be different – both for me and for Joszka. In a few days, we pack our bags and drive to my grandma, who lives by the sea. My pup is small, so it travels in the back passenger seat (this year I’m installing a cute dog seat cover there, I’m curious if she will like it). We will spend a few hours in the car, so I start my “good change” immediately after my arrival. Instead of getting into the whirlwind of Christmas preparations, right after hugging our family, we go for a loooong walk. One during which Joszka will have time to sniff the area, report to the beach (remember that the dog may be on the beach in low season) and meet other animals.

ACTIVE REST WITH A DOG

I will spend this year’s Easter on my own terms. So that no one feels offended by the fact that instead of sitting for hours with a rarely seen family, I’m sneaking out somewhere, I’m going to… do some sport. Me, who looked at my friends sweating on the treadmill without understanding! Swimming pools and gyms are closed during holidays, but spring is coming – the weather is conducive to outdoor activities, even in the case of unaccustomed and undisturbed excesses. J And if the exterior, then Joszka! There are quite a few sports that you can play with your dog . I decided to go canicross, i.e. running with my dog by my side. It is an ideal form of movement for a beginner human-canine duo. It does not require any special preparations, it is worth just gradually increasing the pace and distance of the runs to avoid painful soreness (your dog may have them too!). I’ve already got some special canicross gadgets: a lanyard with a shock absorber, a hip belt and harness for Joszka.

SAME ADVANTAGES

I think that changing my morning walk into morning jogging will appeal not only to me, but also to Joszka. I sincerely hope that the pup will be so exhausted that the scent attractions associated with the festive feast will not evoke more emotions this time. I have already seen my pup in such a state of “walking” that she was not interested in anything other than lying down and falling asleep – we will try to repeat it. I encourage you to be active with dogs during this Christmas. Even if you love long feasts with your family and you cannot enjoy your home laziness (it has its charms, oh, it does). 🙂

Holidays are family time, isn’t a dog a family? Having a few days of breath from work, it is worth spending more time with your pet. If you do not like sports, you can, for example, teach your pet a trick or simply have more fun with it. In any case, it’s worth getting out of the house , because after a heavy meal there is nothing better than a walk to improve digestion and give you energy. So when this Christmas you feel that you are starting to drift off and the chair becomes extremely uncomfortable … remember: you have a dog – you have an argument to get up from the table. 🙂

SOME TIPS

Have you been convinced? Will you be spending more time with your dog this Christmas? Well, I have some ideas for you, what you can do with your pet during a walk. If your pooch does not know how to Apparate yet or you are not quite able to do it, you can decide on training. Be sure to check out how to teach a dog to Apparate. If you already have mastered this form of play, you can choose something more complicated, e.g. teach your dog to slalom between the legs. It’s a mega-effective trick, and learning itself is a fun opportunity to bond with your dog. Do you want to make your dog fun? He will surely like the new fun, e.g. searching for a lost treasure. All you need to do is take your pet’s favorite toy and some dog treats for a walk. Each of us should plan some outdoor exercise with our pets this Christmas, especially since the weather is supposed to be quite spring!
