In today’s liturgy, we read that God has prepared great things for those who love Him. So much so that “neither the eye has seen, nor the ear has heard, nor has the human heart comprehended”.

The wisdom of the Lord is great, He has great power and sees everything. God has endowed man with reason and free will. He wrote down in his heart his Law …, commandments … Man is able to recognize them and choose whether he wants to obey them or not …. “He put fire and water in front of you, whatever you want, you stretch out your hand. Before people, life and death, whatever you like, will be given to you. ” God “did not command people to be ungodly, and let no one sin.” The choice is up to every human being … Also the consequences of this choice.

Are these commandments limitations for man, a restriction of his freedom? Not. God in his wisdom knows that man might want to become like Him; he could, in his selfishness, want to rule the world and other people. In his wisdom, God, in these commandments, protects man from himself, from the lack of love. By obeying God’s commandments, man gives an answer to God for his love, and at the same time expresses love towards his neighbor. Openness to God and the will to obey the commandments is an expression of man’s love for the Creator, and then He himself will ensure everyone’s faithfulness.

“Blessed are those who keep the way undefiled, who walk in accordance with the Law of the Lord. Blessed are those who keep his exhortations and seek him with all their heart, ”we sing in the psalm. Blessed are happy people, called to holiness. Blessed are because because God loved them with eternal love, they want to respond with their love to the calls of the Lord’s Law. Blessed because they themselves do not interpret God’s laws, but ask God to teach them and give them strength to be faithful to the end. Blessed are they because they ask God that His Law may always be in their hearts, that God would teach them to recognize and obey them. God – the Lord of heaven and earth, reveals his secrets to simple people who trust in his love and faithfulness. Blessed are the saints because He is holy.

No one can abolish God’s Law, and Jesus came into the world to fulfill it. He also asks his disciples to obey God’s Law and teach others to follow it. Keeping the Law is based on Jesus’ righteousness, but it is understood differently from the one interpreted by the scribes and Pharisees. You have to look for justice, which is assumed to be God’s love for man, and this love “is patient, is kind […], is not angry, does not remember what is bad; he does not rejoice in injustice, but rejoices in the truth. He puts up with everything, believes everything, hopes in everything, endures everything. Love never ceases. ”

Against such love, not only is the man who transgressed the commandment “You shall not kill”, but also the one who becomes angry against another. Against this love, there is also the one who looks at a woman with lust, and not only the one who does not keep the commandment, “Do not commit adultery.” The one who divorces his wife and seeks another is against justice. Those who swear also act against this love. If a person lives in truth, guided by God’s love, he does not have to swear. His words then mean “Yes, yes; no no. And what is more, comes from the Evil One. ” In this way, man can also be faithful to the covenant made with God. Living in truth and love helps to keep God’s Law.

When a man comes to God with the gift of his heart, he should be reconciled with his brother. Human action is most often driven by emotions. Under their influence, a person does things that he later regrets. However, he should not stay in anger and anger, but try to bring his relations with his neighbors back into balance for the sake of love. God’s love embraces every human being. By going against one of the smallest brothers, man goes against God Himself. Various circumstances are also favorable for man to act against himself and against God’s love. In such situations, it is always worth being careful about yourself. It is better not to do something, to step aside, to leave, than to risk being cut off from the light of God’s commandments. Walking in the dark leads to the gates of Hell.
