My meditations on the Passion of Jesus … today

Time of illness, then hospital stay. I felt my relationships with my companions of misery and my personal reflections as a kind of retreat. I guess I had one. I would like to express my thoughts from this time. Now I am looking forward to a happy celebration of Easter. This perspective of experiences showed me deeply that the most important thing in experiencing Easter is our spiritual reflection and morally strengthening transformation. All external attributes (decorative baskets, sumptuous dishes, excessive decorations, etc.) are like toys for small children. The bottom line is the truth about the Resurrection. It’s like a picture and its frame. The truth is the synthesis-idea, the center of the painting scene, and the outside – the frame – is all that is “of the world”.

Jesus at the Last Supper says the words to his disciples that: “He will die and soon give his life for men.” The disciples did not believe it, and maybe they did not understand it either. However, at the Last Supper, it becomes obvious to all. present – then Jesus declares that: “He offered himself to the Father in the sacrifice of reconciliation and expiation,” and that he identifies himself with the figure of the Son of man, the one who suffered and will die.

Christ himself foretells his death, he himself establishes a New Covenant with God for people, in which he is a specific bridge to God. Jesus creates the ritual of this covenant by teaching the disciples what to do and how to follow the ritual of the covenant with God. The whole meeting of Jesus with his disciples, from the Lord’s Supper to the time of prayer in the Garden of Olives, is an event and a theological-holy fact. Jesus himself creates a bloodless sacrificial ritual. It prepares the sacrum to be understood, announcing the completion of everything when it is completed. He himself creates a hierarchy in this community of disciples, making the apostle Peter the leader; it creates the structure of this community and the power.

In my opinion this is prior to everything that was made visible to people through the death and Resurrection of Jesus; because it showed their perception capabilities: rational, emotional, sociological, and above all, transcendent feelings. Jesus is (then and today) a role model and model for his disciples and… everyone.

Each of the disciples (except Judas) loved Him as a Shepherd-Guide, Teacher. Students, as a group of people in a community system, are characterized by pacifist, fraternal and mercy relationships. Since the Lord’s Supper, each of them has been a kind of hologram – a part of the hologram from the original and common, homogeneous hologram of the New Covenant.

Jesus, through many years of activity and teaching in the group of apostles, established the understanding of what sin is. This concept – sin, correlated with the concept of evil. Jesus set out and outlined the boundaries for the area of good and for the area of evil. He implemented and instilled in his disciples his teaching. In my opinion – the time of the Passion of Christ is not a triumph of evil and violence for the emergence of a new order as a result of expelling violence outside the group – as R. Girard’s theory puts it. Jesus acted in advance – in terms of the concept of prior, making, revealing the meaning – at the time of the Lord’s Supper. It was also then that he distinguished the students from the stereotypical persecutory behavior.

I think that Jesus, in the ritual of the Lord’s Supper, prevents the theological actions from being anticipated, the creation of this destruction. I believe that the Passion is one of the most important facts for all mankind – the tragic dramaturgy of the events of the Gethsemane, Passion and Resurrection of Jesus.

In my opinion, there is layering here. The dimension of God’s decision by the Son of God and the tragic scenario of the Passion of God – Man, which was played out in front of the eyes of people of that time, due to the causative evil of the perpetrators-operators. This is where what is hidden in the human psyche (as a human, physical being) resounds. The escalation of evil is illustrated by the Passion of Good Friday – human bestiality; generated by fabricated conflicts, fueled by lusts, fabricated models and rivalries, manipulation of operators. These events showed us, people, the whole truth about ourselves – from then to the future …

At the same time, I see this event as an image composed of layers (the layer of the spirit and the layer of everyday life) – like the famous ceiling in the Sistine: touching a man with God’s finger. It is He, Jesus, who touches the surface of time and the path of the then life of mankind – with his touch, he creates a circle, like on water … this circle is already raised during the Lord’s Supper.

On the other hand, everything that will come into existence from the moment of arresting Jesus and is already the second circle (chasing the former, i.e. the first) is the purely physical-human-psychology of the crowd. Everything that will / has happened, as in Greek theater: Good Friday, “melting” of the crowd into a great melting pot of mobs, power, judgment, total lack of justice, lack of mercy, total suffering and the death of Jesus the Son of Man, is an image of a warning and definition about man- about us.

New Covenant – the previous circle that Jesus raised up is time and the Sign of theology and eschatology, and He is like the WORD of God. We, our contemporaries, have a different perspective than our contemporary ones (e.g. the horizon of this time and culture). It is given to us as a great gift. It can be multiplied or destroyed. It’s up to us …

( e.g., according to R. Girard).

Jesus is fully aware of the “unawareness of people”. Unawareness (and even worse, stupidity) is the key to the manipulated. He also made order and moral order – in advance – he was not the cog of this “game of people” – he distanced He -Christ, all Good Friday events pre-emptive.

Jesus before the escalation of bestiality – as the Servant of the Lord (paraphrasing Isaiah), prepared the Home-world (this is how I will describe it), arranged and took care of all the details of the scenario of welcoming the Host – God to the Home, the new world, so that we – humans, then, and even more so now, they were able to maintain this “order” of the world and life.

Jesus acted in advance, created a model, rite, ritual, symbol, religion. It is He, Jesus, who eliminates the element of competition, gives and creates (creates a new structure) – an ethical and moral model.

Jesus as a Master, in the face of those who want to identify with the Model, as the Teacher towards the disciples, illustrates the full self-responsibility – anticipating and anticipatory action. I think we should always remember this personal responsibility for ourselves and for our actions – “everyone and the king and the beggar”.
