The first place in the ranking is, of course, honorable and sounds proudly.

But what is this place in real life? What does it look like for a simple entrepreneur, businessman or person who is only going to start business? Why does this serve as a reason for making a decision to move to this country?

I decided to figure it out and for starters did a very simple operation – I asked Google the question: How to Start a Business in New Zealand?

Of course, even knowing about this first place in the world, on the government’s website I expected to find only boring documents, dry statistics, links to other information resources.

But it turned out that I got to the site on which, without an extra boring formalism, absolutely lively “human” language, fascinatingly (.) It is told how to start my business.

Below I will simply bring some excerpts from the government website and from the local website of the Taranaki in Russian practically without comment, bare facts, but you tell you how things are with this in your country.
Original watch here and here

Once again, I pay attention to the fact that these are official government and municipal sites. Pay attention not even to the facts, but rather to the style in which the information is presented. After reading, there is a feeling that you are waiting and ready to help in a new business.

Determine whether you are in business

Perhaps you are already doing business and just don’t realize it.

This is not an unusual phenomenon at all when people who intend to launch their own business are already “in business”, not understanding and not genuinely. For example, someone simply accidentally received a significant profit, without even intending to do this, and someone receives income from the sale of used goods on the Internet, but neither that one nor the other is considered this activity as a business.

When they still decide to start business, they are surprised that the government already considers them businessmen and, as a result, they may already have tax obligations.

Dal gives a link to the website of the tax service, where the criteria for determining the business in different cases are described.

If at least one of three points is suitable for what you are doing, call the tax on the phone in such a way to get advice.

Hell! Not instructions, not a piece of paper, not approval, not a certificate, but just call the tax for advice! Remember the Soviet “cash desk does not give certificates!”.

If you are a private entrepreneur, then you are a business, and business is you. It is you who fully control your business. All profit is completely yours, but also yours and all obligations, including any debts that arose during the business.

To become a private entrepreneur (attention.) It is not required to draw up any official documents, which is why many businesses in New Zealand are starting as private entrepreneurs.

In fact, if you woke up tomorrow and decided to start your business, then you will be automatically classified as a private entrepreneur until you choose another business structure.

Even if you start as a private entrepreneur, you should notify the tax service so that they can consider you working on yourself. There are three good reasons for this:

• Secondly, the tax will be able to correctly program the compButer so that at the end of the financial year you have the relevant tax forms that will remind you of your obligations.

• Thirdly, this will help you write off expenses. The point is that the tax is unlikely to allow you to take the equipment you bought to the consumable part when your business was just a hobby.

The best way to notify the tax is by phone. But remember that the telephone line is open every day until 8 pm and up to 1 pm on Saturday. Therefore, it is better to call after ordinary working hours: it will be faster.

No, they should not, until your annual turnover is used to $ 60,000. But our advice – yes, go and register. There are only a few small businesses who make sense not to register.

Why are we saying to register? Four reasons. Firstly, let's really look at things! You definitely want your turnover to get used to $ 60,000, right? If not in the first year, then as soon as possible. Start with the right, positive mood and take your business seriously.

Secondly, you will be able to test VAT on all your costs for equipment, materials, etc. For example, a computer at a price of $ 3000 will cost you only $ 2550 ($ 3000 Vbyec 15% VAT). Of course, it will be necessary to make VAT to all your accounts and pay it to the tax, but this should not become a problem until you have enough self -discipline to remember that VAT belongs to the government and this is not your money.

Thirdly: Disciplined by returning VAT every two months (with low turnover, you can choose a VAT refund once every six months, but we recommend this once every two months of discipline) you will inform yourself about how your affairs are going on . This is the same as making a profit and loss report every 2 months. If you do not pay VAT at the end of every two months, this may obstruct that you have losses.

The fourth reason to become a registered VAT payer is that other larger businesses will perceive you more seriously. If you are not registered, this is a signal that your business is too small.

Once again, I repeat that I was most surprised by the style in which all this is presented. This is a living person who wrote, with whom it's just nice to talk.

Also, try asking Google “How to get a driving license in New Zealand?” And you will again get to the government website on which there is already another, but the same friendly live person will explain to you what to look for in the first place, how best to organize obtaining rights, talk about the features of New Zealand, give all the necessary links, addresses and phone numbers.

And so here everywhere, in any state institution. And how are you?
