Sin is the fruit of the fleshly man …

Surely sin is one of the elements of the Christian life that is understood very differently in Christian communities. There are lists of sins, penance variously understood, there are penitential indulgences, mortification, scourging and many other practices more or less related to the Bible. Therefore, it is worth undertaking such a topic in order to familiarize the readers of Theseus with the concept and nature of sin, as well as its operation, opposing it and finally victory over sin.

The most common words for sin are in OT Chata and NT Hamatria. These terms contain the idea of not hitting the target, but it does not mean flying, for example, an arrow into the void, but hitting beyond the target. Otherwise not hitting God’s will, but hitting the devil’s. If we were to attempt a definition of sin, it could probably look like this: Sin is missing the goal, evil, rebellion, iniquity, deviation from the road, wickedness, impiety, crime, crime, ignorance, dropping off.

In Systematic Theology, Philadelphia: Judson 1907, p. 269 – Strong defines sin as “not conforming to God’s moral law, whether in conduct or disposition or attitude.” .

Buswell says of sin as follows: “Sin can be defined as anything in a creature that does not express the sacred character of the Creator or that is opposed to Him” (A. Systematic Theology, Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 19620 vol. 1, p. 264. From Rom. 3:23

Sin is something terrible in the eyes of a Holy God. Habakkuk put it succinctly: “Your eyes are too pure to see evil, you cannot look to lawlessness” (Hab. 1:13) The power of sin is so destructive that only the death of God’s Son could put an end to its effects (Jn. 1 , 29)

Sins named by Jesus – Sacrilege (MK 11: 15-18); Hypocrisy (Matthew 23: 1-36); Greed (Luke 12:15); Blasphemy (Mt 12,22-37); Breaking God’s Law (Mt 15, 3-6); Pride (Mt 20: 20-28; Luke 7:14); Scandals (Mt318,6); Unfaithfulness (Mt 8: 19-22); Immorality (Mt 5: 27-32); Fruitlessness (John 15:16); Anger (Mt 5:22); Sins of speech (Mt 5:33; 12:36); Performing good deeds for show (Mt 6: 1-18); Unbelief (Mt 6:25); Irresponsible stewardship (Mt 25: 14-30; Luke 19: 11-27); Prayer neglect (Luke 18: 1-8).

Sins can also be categorized as Violation of the Mosaic Law, Open Sins, Wrong Heart Attitude, and Acid.

The sources of sin are : Satan – maneuvering people into pursuing his own temptations; the world – Satan – serves his purposes and opposes God’s people; human heart – man often does what is in his heart outward (Mt 15:19).

Consequences of sin:

destiny – a man who rejects God’s grace and does not experience Christ’s forgiveness, doomed himself to eternal damnation. Sin puts man on trial (Luke 12:20)

will – the Lord Jesus called the Pharisees slaves of the devil (John 8:44), while the slave has no will of his own. However, the Lord came to deliver the captives (Lk 4:18)

body – some diseases are the result of sin (John 9: 3), (John 5:14), (Matthew 8:17)

others – sin always affects other people, has specific consequences, eg in the case of the prodigal son’s departure, this sin was not indifferent to the father or brother.

The three most important categories of sin –

1. Inborn sin – The Bible clearly states that man’s entire being has become contaminated. We are by nature children of anger, and therefore we are also objects of anger (Eph 2: 3). And not only because of our behavior; we are objects of anger because of something innate. Ps. 51.7 tells us about it; we do not acquire it in life, but we have it from birth. Every part of man’s being has been touched by sin. It is inherited from generation to generation.

· Our mind has become blind (2 Cor, 4,4)

· Degraded our feelings (Romans 1: 21,24,26; Titus 1:15)

· Our “free” will has fallen into captivity – (Romans 6,20,7,20)

The punishment for inborn sin is – spiritual death – it is the separation of our spirit, which is dead because of this sin, from the Spirit of God (Eph. 2: 1-3) if this state does not will change in the course of a person’s life, he will not experience the new birth, he will face eternal death (Rev 20: 11-15).

Obraz – The cut flower from the roots looks alive, it smells, we give it as a gift, put it in a vase. He can create beautiful bouquets with others, but unfortunately he is dead, severed from the root that guaranteed his life. This flower cannot be planted into the root, but man into the living Christ.

2. Sin imputed – this is a sin imputed to Adam ( Rom 5: 12-21); the sin of mankind (2 Cor 5:19; 1 Pet 2:24)

The punishment for this type of sin is the death of our body (Romans 5: 13-14). Salvation is the imputation of Christ’s righteousness to those who have believed in Him (2 Cor. 5:21)

Image – Criminal got a cornea after a death sentence, transplanted it into a decent human, is this a criminal because of this cornea? Likewise, we are grafted onto Christ, and therefore He is not a sinner.

3. Own sins – These are sins committed by people, and for unbelievers they sustain a lack of fellowship with God and for believers they lose their joy in fellowship with God and other believers.

The solution to the problem of one’s sin is the acceptance of Christ by an unbeliever, then the forgiveness he receives covers all the blame for his sins (Eph 1,7) for the believer’s forgiveness, previously confessed to God and the wronged sin restores joy in God’s fellowship (1 Jn 1: 9)

Image – Judicial forgiveness brings the unbeliever into God’s family, while family forgiveness restores the believer’s temporarily broken family community.

Sin Prevention:

1. The Word of God – in our thoughts, memory prevents sin by warning us against it, reminding us of the truth God, he encourages us, comforts us, strengthens and guides us in difficult times of trials and temptations (Ps 119,11)

2. Christ’s intercession – Our Lord always intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25). One of his concerns is not to act like the world while in the world. Consider an incident in Peter’s life (Luke 22:32) and the direct statement of Jesus in John 17:15. Perhaps only sometime in heaven will we be able to understand these verses.

3. The Holy Spirit within us – by realizing who we are in Christ (Ga 5: 16-24); teaching the truth – (1 Cor 2:10; Heb 5:14); help in prayer (Mt 6:13; Rom 8:34; Eph 6:18); making us fit for service – (Jn 7,37-39; Rev 12,11)

And that would be for now – yours in Lord KJ.
