Vladimir Mau spoke at the 20th Gaidar Readings in Kaluga
On December 5, on the basis of the Kaluga branch of the RANEPA, the XX Gaidar Readings were held, dedicated to the topic: The experience of regional development focused on the domestic market: pluses and minuses. The event was attended by Rector of the RANEPA Vladimir Mau.
The Gaidar Readings are a scientific and practical conference on the most topical socio-economic issues of the development of Russian regions and international cooperation. Events are regularly held by the Institute of Economic Policy. E. T. Gaidar, the Yegor Gaidar Foundation and the Presidential Academy. This time the conference was held for the first time in Kaluga with the participation of the regional government.
The XX Gaidar Readings were opened by Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of the Kaluga Region. He noted the importance of an active investment policy and diversification of industrial production, thanks to which the region has become an industrialized region. The emergence of new industries and the introduction of modern technologies have influenced the system of training professional personnel and specialists in the field of management. “Currently, residents of the region have the opportunity to get an interesting job that requires a good education,” Anatoly Artamonov added.
The head of the region recalled that with the help of RANEPA, a strategy for the socio-economic development of the Kaluga region until 2030 was developed. The focus of the strategy is people. “The economy that we will form these years will change a person,” he stressed.
According to Vladimir Mau, rector of the Presidential Academy, investments in infrastructure and human capital remain a priority in the context of economic development. Among the indicators of economic growth, private investment, export potential, and diversification of the economy were singled out. “These “economic trends” are more revealing than GDP. The Kaluga region in the designated areas and not only remains a model,” said Vladimir Mau.
Deputy Governor of the Kaluga Region Vladimir Popov spoke about the regional development strategy. He focused on the formation of an infrastructural basis for attracting investments and on priority projects in the field of logistics, exports and innovations. It was noted that the implementation of the model, which became the basis of the Strategy for the Social and Economic Development of the Kaluga Region until 2030, showed its financial and economic viability.
The Gaidar Readings are aimed at creating opportunities for a fruitful dialogue between experts and the development of practical solutions in the field of economic policy. The conference was attended by representatives of regional ministries, local governments, social movements, leading scientists and practitioners.
