# 4 TREASURE SEARCH
All dogs love to sniff and find treats. You can use this and play with your pet looking for a (crunchy and delicious?) Treasure. It is an ideal form of entertainment on rainy days, when the dog spends more time at home than usual and has no way to discharge excess energy. Ask the other person to hold the dog, take the cookie and pretend you are hiding it in several places within the dog’s sight. # 5 GUESS-GUESS
Guess-guess is a typical olfactory game. We hide the treat or favorite toy of the dog under one of a few plastic cups (or pots or anything of a similar shape) – so that the pooch does not see where it is. The fun is that the dog, sniffing, guesses under which cup the treat is hidden. We summon the pet and give the command “find”. We make sure that the pooch does not knock over the cup with his mouth. When the dog guesses, we reveal it and let it munch on the delicacy. First, train with two cups, with time you can make it difficult and add more. This fun game is another great idea when it rains and thunderstorms outside. By playing with your dog in this way, you are giving him a very pleasant intellectual fatigue. ?
# 6 ENCE-PENCE WHERE HANDS IN?
This is a slightly easier version of the guess-guess. We sit down in front of the dog and show him our hands. There is a treat in one of them. We ask the dog to sit politely. Then we hide our hands behind us and transfer the treat to the other hand. We stretch our hands to the sides – there is a treat in one of the fists. We look in its direction and give the four-legged command “search”. When a pet finds a treat, we reward it.
# 7 HOW TO PLAY IT?
There are so-called interactive toys, i.e. toys that develop the intelligence of the quadruped. Give your pet a gift and give him one of them, such as the Flip Board Trixie, which forces the pooch to find a way to get to the treats hidden in it.
# 8 A BOX FULL OF TASTES
If you like manual work, you can make a toy for your dog yourself. For this you need cardboard, strong adhesive tape, scissors and, of course, dog treats. ? Build a cube out of cardboard and glue its edges with tightly sticking tape. Cut out the holes and stuff a few cookies inside. The task of the quadruped is to extract them. Of course, there’s a good chance it’ll be a single-use toy, but whatever! Dog fun guaranteed.
# 9 HIDDEN
With a dog, just like with a child, you can play hide and seek. Especially if you have a large apartment or house. Ask the other person to hold the dog, and you hide in another room and summon the pet. When he finds you, you can reward him with a caress or a treat.
# 10 SKIP
This is a great exercise for dynamic dogs that love to run but lack human contact during this activity. If you have an active herding dog, terrier or dynamic mongrel, this may be the perfect fun for you. Choose a small bush, a parking post or a thin tree in the park. First, lead the dog around the obstacle, encouraging him with a treat, then with a gesture, and at the last stage, add a verbal command (eg “avoid”). You can gradually increase the distance from the obstacle to allow the pooch to tire more. Thanks to this game, you not only provide your dog with physical activity, it is also a form of obedience training.
WHAT EXCEPT FUN?
Play is a great way to develop a canine intellect, but it is not the only one. We develop the intelligence of the dog every day, providing it with various walking routes, allowing it to sniff freely, contact other dogs and friendly people. Avoid monotony , try to show the dog a new place from time to time, do not distract him from strangers if both sides show a positive attitude and interest (this applies to both dogs and people). If the dog is having a behavioral problem, don’t say, “My dog is barking at the kids? It’s hard, we will avoid contact with children ”. Try to understand your pet’s behavior, let him learn and develop, and work to eliminate the cause of undesirable behavior (which is often fear) with appropriate training and support from the behaviorist. Dogs, like children, need pleasant and varied stimuli that will ensure their proper development, joy and mental balance.
