Taking your dog to restaurants and bars has become quite fashionable lately. More and more often you can see a group of friends who are accompanied by a dog during a meal or a meeting over coffee in the city. While there are tons of reasons to bring him with you, a dog at a diner isn’t always the happiest in the world.
FOR LUNCH WITH A DOG
Even ten years ago, going to a restaurant with a dog in Poland was treated as a quirk and a whim. It was associated with the extravagance typical of wealthy, snobbish ladies. The only justification for the presence of this nice animal in the gastronomic establishment could be the fact that it accompanied a disabled person as a guide dog or guardian dog. Those times are gone forever – many of us like to take our pets for dinner with friends, and the number of pubs that display a bowl of water in front of the restaurant as proof of their dog-friendly hospitality is still growing.
The change that has taken place in this regard is really happy. It proves that we started to take into account the friendly disposition of dogs . We want the best for them, so we spend as much time as possible with them. Taking your hairy friends to the pubs has many advantages, but unfortunately it can sometimes do more harm than good.
NOT ALWAYS WORTH
I sometimes take Joshka to all sorts of pubs. There are several reasons. The first is that I like to have her next to me, and I feel like she likes to have her next to me. Just. In addition, for puppies, visiting new places, especially those with interesting smells, is attractive. He likes to check and smell the spot. He greets nice people and possibly other creatures. Opportunities for such meetings are very important, especially for young dogs that are undergoing a process of socialization. Let them know that the world is full of friendly creatures and that there is nothing to be afraid of. After the initial inspection of the area, the dog in the restaurant usually does what it does during dinner at home – it goes under the table and there it makes sure that our shoes are not hurt. When an approaching waiter notices the quadruped, he usually smiles even wider and serves us somehow more cordially. Oh, the magic of dog charm.
After all, it is not always worth taking your dog to a bar with you. There are places, circumstances and conditions in which dining in a city with a pet may be uncomfortable – both for him and for us. You probably know that, contrary to what unfavorable restaurant owners like to quote, the law does not prohibit dogs from entering the restaurant . Despite this, there are still a lot of places where dogs are not welcome. It may not be so obvious, but there are also many places that are not very well received by most pets. These include places where it is loud, crowded and hot. Doggie probably won’t feel well in such a place. Sometimes I see people sitting in the beer garden on a Saturday night, with a dog next to them – confused and anxious. Wouldn’t it be better for him – even if only alone – at home, in his favorite place, full of familiar fragrances?
