First, he fires up Instagram or Facebook to rejuvenate himself, click through, just like that. And even for a moment it succeeds, but when we watch our friends, celebrities or completely strangers who look beautiful, have a lot, more and more, are smiling, healthy, pretty, something starts to sting. It’s not jealousy, it’s not pissed off, it’s not sad, or maybe a little bit of everything?

So he turns on Netflix, HBO Go or any other Showmax to watch a series and disconnect from everyday life. It works. The series is addictive. But after two episodes, there is an advertisement for three other series proposals. So he tests, checks. After a while, 5 different movies and series are open in the “Forwarding” section. Everyone is interesting, everyone has to be finished, because they have to. Well, no exaggeration, after all, you have common sense. You have to learn something, not stare at the illusion of cinema.

So it starts youtube, google, looks for tips, articles, videos that will inspire you and allow you to cope with the sheer volume of everything. And it hits, but suddenly there are 10 of them in the browser tabs. Some are 3 minutes, others 30 minutes. And God forbid, he goes to the 60-90-minute interview, which, worst of all, is interesting and wants to watch it.

During this time, for the name day, he receives three books from his family, which supposedly need to be read, because they are life-changing bestsellers.

And the fire is fueled by Dębowski, who sends an article about 4 ku @ #% # @ competences that need to be learned for the next years.


Has this world gone crazy?

Has this world gone crazy? Is it just me? Asks a question somewhere in the middle of your head. And right next to it: What the fu # @ $ k !. But it’s actually a piece of cake. Because that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Underneath all of this, there are decisions to be made at work, thoughts to be considered, strategic analyzes to be performed, which must be a response to what is happening in the team, department, company, market. The higher we are in the structure of the company or the larger the company we have, the more there are. So thought # 669 of the day jumps in: and the hell it was, and what the hell is it all . The news of rising tensions in the world and the rise of far-right sentiment in many countries is starting to be frightening.

So he goes back to Instagram and sees the cool life of cool people. For a moment, these smiles, pretty bodies and faces give an injection of positive feelings. What am I doing wrong?

When I asked Lena what this man did: What is he doing wrong?

The world of VUCA, the world of excess and LEAP

I will finish this dialogue another time. An introduction introduced by Lena, or L.E.N.A. is in part a description of the VUCA world, i.e. the world of instability, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity). The term created by the American army fits perfectly into the professional and business world and has been slowly settling in the international consciousness for several years as a way of describing reality.
I like to call it shorter : Welcome to the world of “N” or excess, because it is the excess of everything that creates VUCA. Man goes crazy with excess. The excess of prosperity is harmful, makes you lazy, the excess of non-existence overwhelms you.

Officially in literature eg Bob Johansen in his book “Leaders Make the Future: Ten New Leadership Skills for an Uncertain World” writes that to deal with VUCA you have to use VUCA, but reversed. In order not to have V (olatility) – instability is needed V (ision) – Vision. For there to be U (ncertainty) – uncertainty, U (nderstanding ) – understanding yourself, people, looking from a wider perspective. To avoid C (omplexity) – complexity is needed C (larity) – clarity, clarity, focus on goals. So that there is no A (mbiguity). – ambiguity is needed A (gility) – agility, flexibility, communication flow, quick decisions. The CEE Global organization proposes the concept of LEAP – meaning a jump, it is an acronym for the words: L iberal – openness, flexibility, adaptation of changes, E xuberant – spontaneous involvement of others through your passion and optimism, A gility – agile response and development of competences such as: wide viewing, critical thinking, emotional intelligence and social, P artnership – cooperation based on trust, respect, real care for other people on a human and business level.

Practical psychology and mental training

My answer to VUCA (in addition to using inverse VUCA and the jump rule – LEAP) are questions that based on the VUCA concept, the “N” world and my Change Value Process (CVP ) I created some time ago.

Here are 10 questions that I keep asking myself:

  1. What is unstable and too volatile in your life and / or business?
  2. And what do I want to do with it? What to let go of, what to allow, what to allow, what to accept?
  3. What is uncertain about your life and / or business?
  4. And what do I want to do with it? What to let go of, what to allow, what to allow, what to accept?
  5. What is too complex in your life and / or business?
  6. And what do I want to do with it? What to let go of, what to allow, what to allow, what to accept?
  7. What is ambiguous in your life and / or business?

And I search for answers – over and over again. Half the questions are the same: And what do I want to do about it: what to let go, what to allow, what to allow, what to accept? This is my holy four who has been with me for several years. To deal with a reality that is sometimes beyond our control, we need to catch on to something we have control over. And we have influence on four elements: Letting go, Allowing, Allowing, Acceptance. If someone likes acronyms, he can create: ODPA, DOPA, PODA, ADOP, APOD, APDO. None of them sounds sexy, so I don’t use the acronym 🙂

On a life, personal, emotional, relationship, family level there are things we must learn to let go, allow, allow, accept.

The same goes for business, strategy, sales, management.

If we don’t, we’ll go crazy. Because the world “N” described by Lena sometimes we really do not have a direct 100% influence. We have 20%, 50%, 80%. And that’s what we should focus on. We must always ask ourselves two more questions:

  1. What can I influence?
  2. What do I want to influence?

The second issue is our inner world, that is our psyche. This blog is about the psychology of the future. And now and in the next 10-20 years like never before, the psyche and psychology will play a huge role. Otherwise, the world of VUCA (now I realized that it sounds like a Moomin Buka. Therefore the 4 competences mentioned in the title are skills

  3. Allowing ourselves to do what we have not allowed ourselves to do so far, and it’s worth it, because sometimes we stick to the old patterns too much
  4. Accepting what we have not accepted so far, and it is worthwhile because some things burn up too much and some things should be simply understood more deeply.
