The Mountain View blog says: “Emoji have a global audience and it is important that they are relevant worldwide. In order to turn small icons into understandable concepts that cover a wide range of topics, various changes will be made. In addition, there will be minor corrections to wrong details, such as an incorrectly colored highway, and others will become dynamic and have a dark smartphone equivalent.
Emoji, how they change
In the post, the announcement stated that there would be exactly 992 emojis that would undergo a general overhaul. In this way, these images will be able to count on a widespread and accessible appearance, in some cases not related to the purely American rules that characterized them so far.
One of the most obvious examples is “pie”, a typical dish, both sweet and dry, now represented by the cornerstone of American culture and cuisine: pumpkin pie. In the next update, the icon will become a general pie / dumpling, with a less strong link to US traditions and understandable to people all over the world.
The group will be joined by a handful of brand new pictograms that will have to undergo the Unicode approval process. Candidates include those that have been the subject of much discussion on and off the web over the past few days, namely a man and a pregnant person with a visible belly, as well as Fatima’s hand and a coral reminding you of the threat of global warming to coral reefs.
Google emoji who will get them
According to Big G’s declarations, all applications that already support the Appcompat library will receive emojis. It is not the phone’s release date or device update that will be the distinguishing factor: you just need to be compatible with this element to use the icons used by Android 12. Of course, this is a more practical, faster and safer method than device rooting, which was necessary until now. to achieve the same effect and enjoy the new versions before upgrading.
With the feature, Google can definitely bring a modification to the next major release of its operating system that will allow you to update the font file that is hosting the emoji without having to touch the OS, but only through Google Play Services. This would be a useful integration for Android users who would be able to adapt their visual communication to iOS faster than in the past.
