Graduate internship – benefits for the trainee and the employer

This is an opportunity for young people to prove themselves and earn money. The best can even count on permanent work in the company where they gained experience.

Graduate internship, as the name suggests, can only be completed by graduates.

By law, a graduate is a person unemployed up to 12 months from the date of graduation from upper secondary or higher school specified in the diploma or certificate.

There is one condition: you must not be more than 26 to complete the graduate traineeship.

Internship scholarship from the employment office

An internship is directed by the employment office or the graduate independently finds an employer. The internship must last at least 3 months and may not exceed one year. On average, it takes 5-6 months for the entire country. The internship agreement – at the graduate’s request – is signed with the employer by the poviat labor office. The document records the tasks that the graduate will perform in each month as part of the internship.

Receive the so-called internship scholarship financed entirely by the employment office. Monthly it is 120 percent. the amount of unemployment benefit. Currently, it is PLN 988.40 gross (PLN 844.44 net with sickness insurance). Pension and accident contributions for the intern are paid by the “intermediary”.

Importantly, the trainee receives a scholarship for the entire duration of the internship, also in the event of illness.

It is worth proving your internship

A graduate internship has many advantages. First of all, it will allow you to acquire practical skills necessary to perform a specific job. Besides, it is an opportunity to establish contacts that can be used in the future.

It must be remembered, however, that an internship is not an employment relationship with an employer! Nevertheless, it is worth the effort during the internship. It often happens that after its completion, the best candidates are offered a job or training to start work in their company. If it is really not possible to increase employment, then he will whisper a word about a talented intern to his colleagues from the industry.

The money ran out

Magdalena Rataj from Włocławek, this year’s graduate of UKW in Bydgoszcz, would like to do the internship. – I found a company that would gladly accept me for an internship. However, in the “intermediary” they told me that this year the money for this purpose has already run out. I managed to catch a part-time translation job. Unfortunately, it is a mandate contract. An internship would have been better. I would secretly hope that if I prove myself, there will be a chance to get a permanent job in this company. I have a few friends who, after the internship, hooked up with the company where they took it – says the woman from Włocławek.

They will give internship vouchers

The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy has prepared new forms of assistance for young unemployed people up to 30 years of age. They are to enter into force in January 2014. One of them is the so-called internship voucher.

What is it?

The unemployed will receive a scholarship from the staroste if he finds a company that will organize a six-month internship and undertake to hire him for the next six months. The company will receive 1.5 thousand. PLN bonus.

Other forms of assistance include: a training voucher, a voucher for vocational or post-secondary education or a settlement grant. The government intends to to allocate a total of PLN 1.5 billion for this purpose
