Meditation on Thursday, 2nd week of Advent, year B1

This is one of the retreats in our lives. Probably half of them were the Advent ones, and the other one – Lenten ones, maybe somewhere there were some other days of recollection. The time has come back (or not) in which we reflect on our life, attitudes and difficulties that have arisen / continue to appear in it. I hope you are also reflecting on your mind.

Views may be different. It is very good that even the extreme ones appear (as long as they do not break the law and harm other people, of course). God created man in his image and likeness. Is that why we are so diverse? I hope so. If God somehow unites us all in our diversity, how beautiful must He be? Let’s take a look at ourselves, none of us are a reflection of the other. Everyone has their own value, feelings, emotions and the good they create on this Earth. Most importantly, we all have this opportunity! We are demiurge, creators, and no wonder, because we are made in His image. We can create good and love at every moment of our lives, nothing stands in our way. It is a pity that we are not able to use this precious gift to the full. There will always be something somewhere to stop us or distract us.

Retreats are a time of reflection and recollection. Christians for their own benefit refresh their souls. The question is, how deeply and carefully do they do it? I think it is a great treasure for us to be able to constantly reform our opinions, views, attitudes and actions. Not even once! We have such an opportunity all the time!

However, there is a risk in this possibility. Even big, because it can compensate for the effects of our thoughts and focus. What will these next retreats give us, if we do not act in our lives? We may spend it again writing, reading and editing our thoughts, but so what? Is the God, in whose image and image you are made, as stable in his attitude as you are? The history of the Old (even on a metaphorical level) and the New Testament shows us the complete opposite. God is a God of action, violence and deed, as even today’s reading from the Book of Isaiah shows: “I, the Lord, will hear them, I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will cause the streams on the bare hills to spring up, and the springs of water in the middle of the lowlands. I will change the desert into the lake district, and the dry earth into sprinkles. In the desert I will plant cedars, acacia trees, myrtles and olives; I will plant cypresses, elm trees and box trees in the wilderness side by side. That they may see and know, consider and understand that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has done it. “

Why are you not like this, Christian? Go and do something useful, and perhaps it will be the greatest tangible fruit of this retreat!

If you need reflection for that, that’s fine, but don’t stay there, because it will only be of benefit to you. And will this not be selfishness? How beautiful would the world be if human deeds went hand in hand with these beautiful and deep thoughts …
