We are only a few hours away from the unveiling of the OnePlus Nord 2, but the company continues to suggest aspects of the upcoming product: today it was design.
One of the unforeseen aspects of the OnePlus Nord 2, which the company itself has confirmed, is that it will be the first product in the history of a young Chinese company to feature a MediaTek chip. The first hints for such a “first” came with the first rumors in May about the mid-range OnePlus, but at the time it felt like a long shot.
A few weeks later, after a series of rumors confirming this hypothesis, OnePlus itself officially marked the presence of MediaTek Dimensity 1200 AI. This is currently the best chip in the Chinese manufacturer’s offer, but in a configuration changed by OnePlus designers, to increase its capabilities in terms of artificial intelligence – hence the “AI” suffix. Then, again from the Chinese company, there were announcements of the display, a not very large OLED (6.43 inches) with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and finally those from a few days ago, regarding cameras, a topic that has always been very close to enthusiasts and in which producers have a lot of freedom to make a difference and gain an advantage over the competition.
Official OnePlus Nord 2 design
The latest news from OnePlus, this time on Instagram, concerns the OnePlus Nord 2 design, which has also been the subject of rumors. And compared to them, the novelty elements are almost nil: the rumors were right and they accurately predicted what the mid-range OnePlus design would be.
The photo published by the company shows that OnePlus Nord 2 looks different than the model currently available for sale. Not too much, remember as designers have had very little room to differentiate their smartphones in recent times. So OnePlus has focused on giving character to this one element of the back section that still allows one product to be distinguished from another.
The camera group in OnePlus Nord 2 has a different layout than in the current smartphone. Firstly, because the current smartphone has four cameras, while the Nord 2 will have three, and secondly because the arrangement of the sensors has changed. The product, which will be revealed in the coming days, shows two sensors in full light, most likely the main and ultra-wide-angle lens, and a third, much smaller diameter (probably monochrome) next to the LED flash.
Clean lines and whimsical colors
In other respects, the photo of OnePlus shows that there is no slight curvature of the back surface on the two long sides, which is a solution that should make it easier to grip the smartphone, which should still be quite bulky.
And it is also clear that clean lines will still characterize the OnePlus Nord 2, with a back surface that carries a discreet OnePlus logo in addition to the camera group, and a color scheme: it is likely that the company has shown the most original, which is quite similar to the Blue Marble for the current product.
The OnePlus Nord 2 will be officially announced in just a few days on Thursday 22nd July.
