Adequate diet is very important not only for the record holder, but for every Great Dane, especially during the puppy period. Correctly selected food will strengthen the dog’s bones and joints, and thus prevent the appearance of later health problems characteristic of this breed. When it comes to the necessary grooming rituals, Great Danes are not bothersome kids. You just need to remember about regular hair care by combing the dead hair. It is also worth including preparations such as VetFerus in your daily diet. Thanks to this, the dog will be able to enjoy a beautiful coat, and we will avoid hair appearing in every corner of the house.

Largest dog-breeds

A breed is said to be large if its typical size is between about 60 and 90 cm. Of course, weight is also important, although very difficult to evaluate individually. It is indicated that some dogs defined as large can reach even 120 kg! However, the minimum weight threshold for considering a large dog is around 50 kg. Let’s see which breeds are among the largest in the world!

Saint Bernard

One of the largest breeds is Bernardine – the male representative of the breed can reach up to 90 cm in height and 120 kg in weight. It is a dog that, despite its impressive size, is extremely sensitive and thirsty for the attention of its owner. Bernardines are considered quite calm and completely unresponsive to aggression. However, their large size means that they can be considered ideal protection dogs. No intruder would risk a close encounter with a huge St. Bernard, even if in fact he is gentle as a lamb.

Irish Wolfhound

His height and weight are slightly smaller than that of the St. Bernard, but the Wolfhound is still one of the largest dogs in the world. It can reach up to 84 cm in height, and its typical weight ranges from 55 kg to about 45 kg depending on gender. The Irish Wolfhound, just like his colleague described above, is classified as a calm, sensitive dog and closely related to its owners. However, dogs from the green island need constant movement and physical effort to develop properly. Therefore, they are recommended for people who are familiar with everyday activities and sports.

Mastiffs

Neapolitan, Tibetan, Spanish mastiff and the most popular among them – English is a family of really big dogs. The largest of these is considered to be an English Mastiff. He usually reaches up to 90 cm in height, while the weight of the male is from 80 to 120 kg. These animals are great guard dogs. Nothing unusual! Their massive posture evokes respect and can effectively scare away most potential intruders. As a breed, Mastiffs are considered to be calm and balanced dogs. At times, they may even appear lazy because they are not naturally prone to high physical exertion. However, they show a strong attachment, so the Mastiff will be great not only as a watchman, but also as a faithful friend of its guardian.
