Jude Law and Naomie Harris will star in a new miniseries called The Third Day. Produced by Sky and HBO, it will be released on US platforms on September 14, while in Italy we are still waiting for the exact release date.
The series is written by Dennis Kelly, who has several successful titles to his credit, most notably Utopia. It tells the story of a man and woman who land on a wild island, but quickly realize that the people there are jealous of their traditions and determined to preserve them in any way. They lead a peculiar way of life and perform mysterious sacrificial rituals in which the heroes also participate. The cycle is divided into three phases: summer, autumn and winter. The first part is the one in which the role of the main character is played by Jude Law. In Italy, the series has already been successful and will be distributed by Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
The plot of the third day: here’s what it says
The TV series is a fascinating mixture of horror, drama and mystery. The setting is a mysterious little island called Hosea Island, located at the mouth of the Blackwater River in Essex, England. This place, disturbing and fascinating at the same time, plays a fundamental role in the plot of the performance.
Here, protected from prying eyes, live indigenous peoples, rooted in this area and especially attached to their macabre traditions. The island in particular holds sacrificial rites involving all kinds of sacrifices, including bystanders, and seems to be administered by a mysterious sect.
The TV series about this gloomy world is divided into three parts: the summer chapter consists of three episodes, the autumn chapter is told in one episode shot without interruption, and finally winter is presented in three consecutive episodes. So the series consists of six episodes, plus a short cut-scene in the fall.
The first two debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, arousing great interest among critics and viewers. Sky and HBO are involved in the production, but Brad Pitt’s Plab B is also among the executive producers.
Day 3: Jude Law and more in the cast
As already mentioned, the two main characters are Jude Law and Naomie Harris. The former is the protagonist of the Summer chapter and takes on the role of Sam, the man who finds himself rescuing a mysterious girl, Epona (played by Jessie Ross) and decides to take her back to his home, Hosea Island. The man is knocked unconscious and he wanders around the island, discovering the cruel truths that characterize him.
Fall is a shorter chapter and involves actress Naomie Harris, starring Helen. He and his daughters come to a mysterious island to spend the weekend with his family. However, she quickly realizes that the townspeople are shocked by the event that has just happened and want to bring her back. Helen becomes curious and wants to understand what happened. It gets involved in the functioning of this society. The cast also includes Emily Watson, Katherine Waterston, John Dagleish, Paddy Considine, and Freya Allan.
The series is eagerly awaited by many fans of the genre and is getting ready to conquer our country in the coming weeks. All that remains is to wait for further updates on the official release date on Sky and NOW TV.
