Tell the man with the child’s illness that he is influencing. Tell the person who loses their job that you can change everything. Tell yourself, when once again nothing goes your way, that the world belongs to you.

It seems ridiculous. All psychology, personal development, and coaching seem pointless. I have had such thoughts myself more than once. I myself have repeatedly fallen into doubts that undermined everything that was, is and will be.

At this tough moment, nothing makes sense. So how do you cope? Keep reading.

What to do when we have a difficult situation in life? What to do when everything falls on your head? How do you react when many things go wrong? Many things are beyond our control, many of them happen outside of us. They tell us: you can do anything, you can change the world, everything depends on you. But is it true? What does it depend on whether we can cope with the most difficult moments in our professional life?

Some people pull themselves even more down at this point, others bounce off the bottom of life. This is the moment of the decision. Not changes, not discoveries, not solutions, but decisions: Which side do you want to be on? On the side of surrender, sense of nonsense, or on the side of struggle, change, hope? The decision itself, saying it in your head or out loud, is crucial. This is where it all starts. If it is hard to make, ask yourself: When did I make the decision to give up? When was that moment? Why do I decide so and do I agree 150% with this decision? waking up the mind “wake up call”. We often sit in limbo with our thoughts. We immerse ourselves in them. They pull us in. You have to be able to get out of them. Don’t be positive. Don’t look for solutions and change the world. Break out of the vicious mental circle.

Do you have control over everything? Not. Do you have 100% influence on your life? Not. But you do influence the decisions you make. Decisions come from thinking. How you think determines everything. Your thinking influences your decisions and how you deal with the most difficult moments in life. Your thoughts don’t change the world, many things are out of your control. But you have influence on what you have influence – as long as you can influence, that you can make decisions, the most difficult ones in the worst moments in life.

There are many methods, techniques, trainings that teach you how to control your thoughts , how to win the so-called Mind Game, a mind game that is not easy at times. Knowing the rules by which our mind is governed is crucial. But even more important is the mental foundation, i.e. our beliefs, mindset, worldview. It determines what thoughts we have, which influence decisions and then actions.

Let’s start with a simple, obvious example: If someone has a mental foundation, a belief in “Don’t Steal” and it is firmly encoded in their moral backbone, even if they are short of money, when they are left without work, he would not think to steal something from the store. He will worry, he will despair, or he will be looking for a job once, twice, three times, but never steal. Well, unless the living conditions changed by 180 degrees, there would be a war and the decision would remain: die or steal food and survive. Then the extreme reality changes our mental foundations.

If someone’s mental foundation is including . “You don’t beat children,” even if a child is bullied, even when this adult is under severe stress, he will be exhausted, he will not hit the child. Perhaps the thought “I’ll teach him a lesson” will cross his mind, perhaps there will be an emotion, a movement of the hand and a desire to strike, but then the mental foundation will dominate this thought, emotion and body, nothing will happen.

Everything really depends on our mental foundation, on what we have firmly rooted in our spine. The Decalogue in Christianity is an example of building the principles of functioning that allowed to dominate society at that time. Without the principles that become the foundation of the worldview, a person loses with his drives, thoughts, ego, emotions.

Legal provisions are an example of rules that are supposed to allow order in the country. This gives results – better, worse, but it allows you to function in a civilized country. But most of these principles are not mental foundations, nor are they deeply entrenched in many people. The provision “do not exceed the speed of 50 km / h in built-up areas”, especially in the case of a Pole, is not embedded in the spine. There are rules for rules, there are rules that are important but we don’t identify with, and there are rules that are deep within us. This is how the world works.

One of the missions of this blog and the idea of future psychology is to prepare our mentality and mental foundations for the future in order to cope with change and the future. One of the key aspects is such a mindset, a foundation in our head that will allow us to deal with difficult situations, with the worst moments.

If we want to be successful, be ready for change, for a professional future, we need to deal with the worst moments.

On the external, operational level, in the most difficult moments we need:

  • build close relationships with trusted people who can listen, understand, prompt, support
  • build relationships (at conferences, meetings, training courses) with multiple people to be able to apply for a job,
  • building your recognition on the Internet, social media so that more people will associate you, your specialization, and your work. In a crisis situation, when you inform the community about a new project or that you are looking for a job, you have a much greater chance that someone will contact you because they value and trust you.
  • not to live beyond our means, so as not to incur debts, so that, regardless of whether we earn PLN 2,000, PLN 20,000 or PLN 200,000 per month, we always have money left for investments and savings
  • financial security, so postponing 5-10% of your earnings every month gives you greater peace of mind after a long time that you do not have a knife on your throat, we can survive financially

On an internal, personal level, we need

  • constantly increase your knowledge in the chosen specialization. Applying it, developing it, acting – it builds experience. Knowledge and experience create wisdom. The market always needs smart people
  • learn new things in new industries – to have different directions of professional development, but also to be inspired by what is happening in the world, to have a freshness of mind, which is key when plans do not go our way
  • develop internally, get to know yourself, your personality – the better you know yourself, the more self-esteem and self-confidence you have
  • and what is the essence of this article: to build your mental foundation, mindsets that will lift us above the water when the whirlpool of life draws in. What are these beliefs?

Here is a list of 58 key ways of thinking, rules and mental foundations for me in terms of business and professionalism. Some of the mindsets below may be obvious to you, some incomprehensible, some so banal that it’s a pity to read, and some inspiring. Not every point will be the key to dealing with the most difficult moments, nailing, failure. In fact, some of them in times of weakness will be rejected by us, will not make sense or will be overwhelming. But the mix of a few, a dozen or so mental foundations will give you strength, change your thinking, and make you stronger. There will be debilitating thoughts, doubts, but your spine and mentality will not break. You will come out stronger from this moment.

As you read the entire list, you will find that some beliefs seem contradictory, that they are contradictory. According to the foundation No. 48: connect the opposites, let them complement each other. This list is not exhaustive, but at the moment they are the most important rules that I have been collecting since 2006, since I started my professional career.

In order for reading the list to make sense and not to thoughtlessly click through “cool slogans”, I suggest you read each mindset carefully – 3 times. Repeat each belief 3 times. Let it ring in your head.

Then choose from the list the 3 that are most memorable, most remarkable at the moment. These are the most important in your life at the moment, the key ones. Your mind chose them, that’s what considered them important. Then focus on these three mental foundations and ask yourself: What does this mean for me? Why is it important? How do I want to implement this mindset? If answers don’t come right away, come back to it in an hour, next day and think again.
