Adidas replies to Nike: “We’ll be in the Metaverse too” seems to want to say with some (not too veiled) Twitter message

Just like in the real world, in the digital universe illustrated by Mark Zuckerberg a few weeks ago – the so-called Metaverse – the “duel” between two clothing giants Adidas and Nike is renewed. When the Metaverse is ready, the next, sixteenth chapter of the challenge between the two giants will begin.

The number of companies preparing to “travel” to the Metaverse is growing and at this point there is no doubt that they will make their debut: if world giants such as Adidas or Nike compete, Zuckerberg’s project will develop and gain more and more more specific shapes. This will take some time of course, but the Metaverse is getting more and more “concrete”. Nike, for example, filed its trademark with the U.S. Patent Office in late October, along with the famous Just Do It slogan, and then opened up a new virtual world.

Adidas and The Sandbox together for Metaverse

A sports brand would be more than interested in having a place on The Sandbox, one of the most popular platforms on which to build your own virtual reality idea. More than a possibility, we should be talking about an accomplished transaction between Adidas and The Sandbox, even if no official announcement has (yet) been published on the website of the famous sportswear brand.

The corresponding Twitter accounts were very clear though, too much. The first up was The Sandbox who posted a tweet tagging Adidas in which he wrote: “Hey Adidas, nothing is impossible in the Metaverse. What if we invited everyone to design our future together?”

Moments later, this Adidas Twitter account retweeted the message, shouting to fans, “What should we build together in The Sandbox?”. It’s clear that if adidas’s Metaverse debut is unofficial, it will be soon.

By entering the Metaverse, a German clothing company can allow “virtual citizens” to purchase clothing designed specifically for the Metaverse approved with the NFT, ie non-transferable tokens (virtual certificates of ownership, in other words).

Adidas collaborating on Metaverse

Adidas not only moved ahead with The Sandbox, but also teamed up with others to prepare the ground for the Metaverse. Agreements with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comic and Gmoney, digital companies tied to the NFT world, are now official. They made sure to announce their collaboration with such a prestigious brand as Adidas on social media without adding any details to their messages.

But it’s not hard to imagine what Adidas might mean: creating and selling (in due course) virtual items for Metaverse, be it shoes, hats, t-shirts or clothing in general, the authenticity of which can be verified through the NFT. as it happens in the real world through labels of authenticity.
