Italy is the first market outside the US where Discovery + programming will also come to Amazon Prime Video. Here’s what’s up.
Amazon Prime Video is expanding its channel package with a tasty addition for TV fans. Discovery +, the Discovery Group’s streaming service that focuses on true entertainment, is a sector that appeals to a large part of the audience for its direct and engaging style and covers a wide range of topics.
By appearing on the streaming platform and being able to watch on Amazon Fire TV devices, as well as my Fire TV edition smart TV, it will allow all interested viewers to immerse themselves in a comprehensive entertainment, thanks to a fresh and easily accessible offer. Available from January 4, discovery + is in full force in Italy with a program library that includes a tantalizing podcast section, including shows like Daria Bignardi, L’Assedio, and Fratelli di Crozza.

As already mentioned, the Discovery + programming schedule is dedicated to real life entertainment and non-fiction, i.e. all those programs that have a young and direct style, such as reality shows or lifestyle series. In particular, the first episodes will begin on June 7, including the hugely popular reality shows Love Island and Marriage at First Sight Italy.
It is a heterogeneous proposition that, therefore, is not afraid to challenge other big names in the sector with the possibility of using their favorites at home as well as on the go. Thanks to lighter formats, a lot of sport thanks to the integration of Eurosport (1 and 2) in one of the available packages and containers created with Discovery + Originals, there is no shortage of new products that have a chance to intrigue viewers.
The package also includes alternatives for younger viewers, such as Frisbee, and more targeted offers for motoring (Motor Trend), nature (BBC Planet Earth and Animal Planet) or cooking (Food Network).
