Building Temple 1 – Builder

Readers of Theseus are people with great knowledge and knowledge of God, so we can move in different directions and depths to get to know, to experience more. Today I would like to show my shy outline of God’s construction which is the Temple, the one that Solomon built, and the one we read and sing about in the New Testament, that is, the Temple of the Holy Spirit in us. In this section I want to deal with the builder. The person who received the revelation of the Temple, its shape, decor, destiny and holiness. At the same time, the New Testament Temple is not only the Holy Spirit in us, but also in the communal sense, that is, God building his Church, the one whom the gates of hell will not prevail.

Despite his incredible devotion and love for God , King David could not be the builder of the Temple, although he collected all the goods for its construction, he wore in the heart of God’s desire for a temple in which the people would worship God, but his descendant was to be the one who would build it. Who was Solomon? He was the son of David by marriage to Bathsheba. This marriage has a negative connotation among Bible readers because it was preceded by betrayal, adultery, murder, and finally the death of a child conceived in an adulterous manner. This is not a joyful story of David’s victories, but rather a dark page of his story that God has never hidden.

David’s Penance of these wicked deeds we read in Psalm 51, where he pours out his heart to God, where he confesses his faults and entrusts himself to God’s grace. Have mercy, God, according to thy righteousness, thus says David, for he saw no good in himself to which he could relate. It was God’s grace and justice, and above all mercy, that saved him from death. Solomon, on the other hand, was another son of David, who had died because of sin. When we look at Matt. 1.6 and we read in Jesus’ lineage about Solomon, then we see a strange thing, the name of Bathsheba is not there, and instead, Solomon is shown to be born of David and the wife of Uriah. Solomon had to live in the shadow of his parents’ sin, he had nothing to boast about, his origin was tainted with sin and human weakness. However, God loved him and gave him a new name – Jedidias which means Beloved of the Lord 2 Sam. 24-25. Although his parents weren’t his pride, God loved him with all his heart.

So the person who was going to build the Temple was not a person to brag about, rather a person with a past. And it is God who chooses such builders, that the builder would not build on his righteousness, wisdom or cunning, but that he would build on the Lord. Solomon knew this, and that is why he asked God for wisdom, and God gave him wisdom in abundance, so that there was no wiser man in the whole world. It should be noted that wisdom or love are not separate entities from God, but God is wisdom and love, so God gave Himself to Solomon. His Holy Spirit filled Solomon, and he could live in complete trust in the Lord.

How does this apply to us today? We read in the Bible that at the moment of conversion, God sends His Holy Spirit into us, a miracle takes place, our dead spirit is raised up and revived and we become a complete being of God, which becomes a temple. God’s plan begins to be realized in our life, God begins his work. Conversion is only the beginning, it is cleaning the construction site. We cannot add anything of our own to this building, as Solomon had to build exactly as the Lord revealed it. God calls each of us to specific things. One building will grow up as an evangelist, from another a shepherd, another musician, etc. However, the most important thing is that God does not build on our natural abilities that we do not boast about ourselves, but gives us his abilities. Therefore he made fishermen into apostles, therefore he made a Pharisee an apostle to the nations. We could list here what who did and also we could say, looking at our lives, God called me from – to. I remember the testimony of our presbyter in chief, he said this – God called me from the mechanical canal from PKS to His Kingdom. Today, who would have thought that a man whom God had appointed for tens of thousands of sheep had to repair buses first? This is so that he knows that he has nothing of value in him, but that his service is exclusively the work of God.

Solomon was humble and he could be God’s builder, he built an amazing temple, which all the powerful of the world then came to see. During the reign of Solomon, there were no wars, Israel was safe, no one attacked him. Sin – confession – forgiveness have an incredibly creative power. This is God’s foundation for a building. In 2 Cor. 6: 11-13 we read a truth that may be an ambush for us while building our Temple, or more broadly, this Temple, which consists of living stones, and therefore the Church, including local communities. The narrowness of hearts, in other words legalism. The attitude of a person who is most often religious (which does not mean that he is born again) and builds on himself, on his own justice and wisdom. Most often, the buildings of such people are corporeal, often of stone and brick, and this is called the Temple. Not the interior of man, not the life of the community of reborn people, but something material.

Surely the Church needs places where it can gather in peace and security, but the tightness of hearts is that we are closed on the other, and we boast about ourselves and our achievements. God does not like this attitude. We then need to expand our hearts. This can be painful as it is often associated with the loss of our justice. Our justice is a proud old man. I will forgive this attitude but I will not forget. So I will not forgive. This is a self-destructive attitude, because by breaking God’s Word we condemn ourselves to spiritual dwarfism. So what about forgiveness in this matter – because if you do not forgive your enemies and those who do wrong to you, the heavenly Father will not forgive you for your sins. Matthew 6: 14-15. Sounds dangerous? Well, let’s try to get closer to the Lord so that His love flows from us, instead of our old nature.

Let’s build our Temples, or perhaps we should rather write, let us not prevent God from building them both in us and as a community. May the communities of Christ grow, multiply and fill the earth with the knowledge of the Lord.

Yours in Mr. Kazik J.
