If, on the other hand, sport is not your element and you are interested in calmer events, you can, for example, go to relaxation massage workshops for dogs. Thanks to them, you will learn what stresses your pet and how you can help him. Fairs for dog owners are also popular, where you can get acquainted with news from the world of four paws and which are more and more often included in the calendar of city events.

What about ghost entertainment? Well, in this regard, owners and their pets can envy New Yorkers. Laurie Anderson, known to Americans for her unconventional performances, played a concert for dogs at Times Square, which was listened to by over 50 four-legged music lovers! The artist presented the dogs with a specially composed material with a frequency appropriate for animals, and almost inaudible to humans. The event initiated by Laurie sends a clear signal: dogs are a part of society that should definitely be invited to experience the city together in a cultural setting.

However, urban space is not only events and places created exclusively for pets and their owners. They are also public utility facilities, which are increasingly becoming available to our pets as well. Among them there are galleries, museums, shopping malls as well as shops and service points, e.g. beauty or hairdressing salons .

London’s “Play More” is in this respect a precursor exhibition, changing the view on what we previously considered a privilege of people. It can be said that thanks to this initiative, art has gone to the dogs, changing the meaning of this phrase for the better! The exhibition, which was hailed as a very successful experiment (as promised – to be repeated in the future), the dogs could watch for a few days, developing their senses thanks to interactive installations and paintings painted by Dominic Wilcox to attract their attention.

Poland follows the London pattern like a chihuahua – in quite small steps. With a dog on a leash, we can enter more and more art galleries or visit a museum together – for example Neon Museum in Warsaw or Wrocław Museum of Architecture , where for some time the found on the doorstep, a dog with the graceful name of the Custodian. Since then, the inhabitants of Wrocław can visit the institution with their pet, but we will probably have to wait for the full social acceptance of such a step.

The sight of the dog in the restaurant also does not impress many people, and the owners themselves make sure that visiting their pooch has access to a bowl of water, and sometimes also to snacks.

City vacation with a dog? It’s getting easier!

A trip to another city does not have to mean for the owner separation from the pet and the necessity to look for a replacement guardian among friends or family. There are more and more urban accommodation facilities on the map of the country, which not only allow you to stay with your pet, but also guarantee that in the hotel or apartment the pooch will not be doomed to boredom or lack of comfort. All thanks to the special infrastructure and amenities available on offer.

The constantly verified and updated maps of dog-friendly places make traveling together easier. Choosing the right accommodation at the beginning saves the owners from unnecessary unpleasantness and allows you to fully enjoy the wide offer of places where dogs are very welcome – restaurants, galleries, museums and shops.

OR TO THE CINEMA?

There is no shortage of new ideas. So if the dog can come with us to the restaurant, why not combine this pleasure with a screening at the cinema? Such an opportunity appeared in Poznań – the Muza Cinema organized film screenings in which four-legged friends also took part. The FISH AFTERNOON series was organized as part of the third edition of the Nic się Tu Nie Dzieje festival. The owners had to take a blanket and … a dog with them, and the organizers served all the pets with a bowl of water. Isn’t that the perfect recipe for an evening in good company? Check out our photo report from this event.

If you have a feeling that your dogs have a social cinema lover who loves going out into the city, there are more and more opportunities to check it out! Screenings for the four paws and their owners are organized occasionally in every major city and are very often associated with the premieres of films in which the leading roles are given to the four-legged. The show of “Dog Hearts” directed by Laurie Anderson took place in at the Surowiec cinema in Wrocław under the watchful eye of dog reviewers, who were provided with seats and bowls full of water, and the common room of the Warsaw Nowy Teatr organized a meeting with the charges of the shelter in Paluch right before the screening. The Łódź Kinematograf cinema focused on strong emotions, adequately suppressed for the needs of canine perception – the film “Pitbull. Dangerous Women ”was displayed with a muted sound, and the comfortable pillows allowed the dogs for a few hours of decent relaxation next to the owners. And if you don’t want to leave the house, you can organize a unique session for your pooch at home – on the screen of your phone or laptop! Especially for our four-legged friends, we have created a dog comedy, i.e. a movie adapted to your pets’ eyesight and sense of humor, which you can find on our YouTube channel. What more could you want? You can wish (and dogs!) That events friendly to four paws will become a permanent fixture in your calendars, instead of appearing in them once in a while. You can wait for the moment when the dog and the gentleman going to the cinema or to the exhibition together will not only be a harbinger of the upcoming changes and a rare curiosity, but a natural picture of the city life.

But you can also give a hand to the initiators of events that introduce new, good habits and create a city open to everyone – small and large, bipeds and tails – and on your own make sure that the dog in public space is associated well with everyone . After all, the change we would like to make is the most fun!
