On Stadia connect Google, the Mountain View giant revealed the cost, minimum specs and games of its gaming platform
Google Stadia’s new online gaming platform has finally been unveiled to the public. In Big G’s plans, it should revolutionize the way we use video games by convincing us to say goodbye to consoles for a 100% online experience.
During a dedicated Stadia Connect event, Google explained (almost) everything there is to know: subscription price, technical requirements to play in different resolutions, games available from the November 2019 release date in 14 countries (including Italy) for Pro Subscription only. In turn, the basic subscription will appear next year, but its price has not yet been disclosed. The Stadia Founder’s Edition package was also revealed, as well as the data bandwidth needed to play online. Finally, Google also launched a connection speed test tool and find out how high resolution you can play without slowing down.
Google Stadia: how much does it cost
From November, the Stadia Pro subscription will be available for 9.99 euro per month, which allows you to play in 4K and 60 FPS, with 5.1 surround sound. The games can be purchased at any time, but there will also be games available for free on an ongoing basis. Stadia Pro users will also receive exclusive discounts on selected games.
From next year, you will be able to buy a Stadia Base subscription, which for an unknown price will allow you to play matches in resolutions up to 1080p and 60 FPS, with stereo sound. The games will have to be purchased individually and at full price: there will be no free titles, and no discounts on selected games.
What is Stadia Founder’s Edition
The Stadia Founder’s Edition is now available for pre-order for € 129, but it will physically hit our homes in November. It includes a three-month Stadia Pro subscription, a gift-to-play Buddy Pass, a Google Chromecast Ultra, and a limited edition of the Night Blue Stadia Controller.
Google Stadia: Connection Technical Requirements
Google Stadia will be an online gaming service, which means that we will receive a very high data stream over the Internet for the game. Google has released an online tool (actually speed test), thanks to which we can check in a few seconds what performance we will get in Stadia with our current connection https://projectstream.google.com/speedtest. Generally speaking, the requirements for the game are:
– 4K resolution at 60 FPS, HDR Video, Surround 5.1: 30-35 Mbps
-Resolution 1080p @ 60 FPS, HDR Video, Surround 5.1: 20-25 Mbps
Resolution 720p at 60 FPS, Stereo: 10-15 Mbps
