In response to the Free Mobile landing in Italy, Telecom has created a new mobile operator with low-cost tariff plans, renewable every 30 days
After the appearance of the French Iliad and the tariffs presented by Rabona Mobile in Italy, competition flared up between virtual operators operating in the area of cheap mobile telephony. TIM was one of the first companies to invest in low-cost telephony with Kena Mobile.
The arrival of a low-cost mobile operator from Telecom was announced as a real attack on the market. The desire to defeat the increasing competition is underlined by the words of the president of Flavio Cattaneo, spoken a year ago on the occasion of the launch of Ken Mobile: “After years of monopoly on telephony, we now want to move from defense to counterattack. It is no coincidence that the operator’s name comes from the legendary Polynesian warrior of the same name. Please note that Ken Mobile offers are only available on prepaid and with 3G support only.
What is Kena Mobile
As already mentioned, Kena Mobile is an Italian virtual mobile operator belonging to the TIM group. When speaking of a virtual operator, it should be remembered that this is a company that provides mobile telephony services without having a license for the appropriate radio spectrum or necessarily having all the infrastructure necessary to provide such services. Kena Mobile was launched in March 2017 and has 300,000 active users across Italy as of March 2018.
How to activate Kena Mobile SIM
To activate Kena Mobile SIM, you can either go directly to the company’s website or go to one of the many physical stores dotted around different regions of Italy. You can also register your SIM via the Kena App available for iPhone and Android. If you already have an active number with another operator, you can migrate while keeping the same number. The cost of the SIM card is 5 euros.
Ken Mobile Deals
There are currently six active Ken Mobile offers. The cheapest is Facile, which offers 200MB in 3G and 200 minutes of calls for just two euros a month. For those who only want to make calls, the Voce plan offers 1000 minutes for 4 euros a month. The Comoda plan offers 4GB on 3G and 400 minutes of calls for 6 euros. If we are only interested in the Internet, on the other hand, 8GB a month costs 6 euros. More “complete” offers are Special, 5 GB, 1000 minutes and 50 SMS, for 5 euros a month, and Digital, 15 GB, 1500 minutes and 100 SMS, for 10 euros a month.
How to Top Up a Ken Mobile Card
Topping up your Ken Mobile SIM card is very easy. The denominations available are: € 5, € 10, € 15, € 20, € 25, € 50 or € 100. Top-ups can be made with a prepaid or credit card on the company’s website, via the mobile app, or with cash at a physical Kena store. And also with the PIN CODE at Lottomatica or Sisal.

As already mentioned, many operations can be performed using the smartphone app. By downloading it to your iPhone or Android, you can top up your account, check your monthly plan data and minutes usage, and even change your SIM plan.
