Dark – The Secrets of Winden debuted on Netflix in 2017 and from the first season managed to catch the attention of viewers. It is a sci-fi thriller created in Germany by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese. In the last few days, the streaming platform released a trailer for its third season, announcing that it would be out on June 27.
The TV series, set in the small town of Winden, tells the story of the mysterious disappearance of two children and focuses on a police and community search. These events will reveal a series of dark secrets connecting the four main families of the town. Season after season, the storyline was articulated by introducing new characters and science fiction plots. And that is why the appearance of the third season is so important: it will allow us to understand all the secrets that characterize the plot. How did the first season of Dark end?
Dark has been holding viewers in suspense since season one, which ended in catapulting the heroes into four different historical moments: 2019, 1953, 1986 and 2052.
In 2019, Charlotte finds a 1953 article in the newspaper about Helge’s abduction. At the same time, Jonas created a space-time gate that allows him to travel through parallel worlds in different historical eras. This allows Jonas to be able to communicate with Helge and is transported to 1986 and Jonas to be in a post-apocalyptic scenario in 2052. In short, from season one, time travel is surely one of the main elements of the show, seasoned with horror plots such as kidnappings, unsolved murders, and the arcane of the present, in short, huge doubts.
Darkness 2: what happens and how does it end?
The second season turns out to be more intricate than the first.
Jonas, stuck in 2052, discovers that there will be an apocalypse in 2020 and sets out to save the Earth. To do so, he tries to communicate with other characters who are also scattered across different eras, and travels through time discovering more secrets and bloodshed this season. In Season Two, the fates of the four Winden families will intertwine even more, with the town’s nuclear power plant becoming even more central and explaining, in part, some of the main mysteries of the story.
The last episodes of Dark 2 introduce two new plots: the Higgs boson, or the Divine Particle that allows the heroes to travel through time. This molecule is synthesized at the Winden nuclear power plant. The second plot that is introduced at the end of Season Two is the multiverse, that is, the presence of other possible worlds. This is in addition to the time travel concept that characterizes the entire series.
Dark 3: What does the trailer tell us?
The third season of Dark was announced on May 30, and since then fans have been wondering how the story will develop. The trailer posted on Netflix’s Twitter account contributed to this. It is known from the outset that the new Martha from a parallel world will play a very important role in the final season of Dark, as it will allow us to understand how this world was created. Martha and Jonas’ relationship will continue to be at the center of the plot, but next to it, Claudia stands out as well, who plays an ambivalent role: it is not known if she is on the good or bad side, and we will certainly get to the bottom of the matter in the final season.
