An internal roadmap leaked from the hallways tells us when Samsung will start producing its upcoming tablet, smartwatch, laptop and wireless headset models in 2022
2022 will be a busy year for Samsung, with a long list of products on the way, but sadly with a chronic chip crisis getting in the way. The Korean giant will therefore have to choose where to focus its production between the Galaxy Tab tablet range, the Galaxy Buds range handset and the Galaxy Watch smartwatch range.
The launch of Samsung’s new top-of-the-range Galaxy S22 smartphone, expected to arrive in early January, is not in doubt, while the exact release date (apparently only in Europe) for the Galaxy S21 FE is still a mystery. However, a list of upcoming Samsung products was leaked from South Korea, and more specifically from the well-known online electronics newspaper The Elec, and most likely it is Samsung’s internal material that some (careless or complicit) employee has circulated. There are, in fact, not only the product launch dates, but even the estimated production for each of them. The data includes tablets, laptops, smartwatches and wireless headsets that Samsung will launch throughout 2022.
Samsung 2022: tablets starting
According to leaked documents, the first products to be launched by Samsung in 2022, between the first and second quarters to be precise, are the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8 + and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablets. This is a new ultra-high-end range that will compete directly with Apple’s iPad Pro.
But Samsung plans to produce a total of only a few such tablets: 2.5 million units. They will be joined by the Galaxy Tab S8 Lite, for another 1.6 million units, but only in the second half of 2022. Throughout next year, however, Samsung will manufacture and sell a plethora (11 million units for each of the two models) of both the Galaxy Tab A8 and the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite (both of which are budget Android tablets).
Samsung 2022: Laptops
New laptops from Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro, Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 and Galaxy Book2 Pro 5G, however, will take at least until mid-2022. Samsung will only produce a few units: 2 million in total. More optimistic, however, are the estimates of the production and sales of the future Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go: 1.4 million units.
Samsung 2022: smartwatches
Following the well-deserved success of the Samsung Galaxy Watch4, all eyes will be on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch5 smartwatch in 2022. A model that Samsung expects to be successful to the point that it will produce 4.8 million units out of a total of 19 million smartwatches planned for next year.
As logically expected, given that the current Galaxy Watch was introduced in August 2021, we will have to wait for the 5th until the second half of 2022.
Samsung 2022: wireless headsets
Waiting impatiently for the Galaxy Buds Pro2 and Galaxy Buds Live2 to arrive, they will have to wait: the first will go into production in spring 2022 at the earliest, the second in mid-summer.
Samsung says they will sell very well, though: production is expected to be over 3 million units for each of the two models, out of a total of approximately 23 million wireless headsets that Samsung expects to produce and sell in 2022.
