Microsoft announces a new version of Windows 10 full of new features, starting with a new Start menu that completely changes the face

Microsoft has released a new beta version of Windows 10, and inside we will find a lot of news for users. The most important of them is the Start menu, which, after many announcements, has finally been thoroughly redesigned. Live Tiles, or squares dedicated to applications in the Start menu, have changed their face: softer colors, in line with Fluent Design, the style chosen by Microsoft for this new phase of Windows 10.

The changes are present in Build 20161 Windows 10 Insider Previews, the version of the operating system intended for developers and beta testers. However, this is not the end of the news in the new version: Microsoft also interfered with the multitasking system, which is activated by simultaneously pressing the ALT + TAB keys. When you open the multitasking panel, all open tabs in Microsoft Edge are now displayed, not just the home tab. There have also been minor changes to the taskbar and notifications.

What’s changed in the new Windows 10 Start menu

The redesign of the Windows 10 Start menu was announced by Microsoft some time ago, and now the first step has appeared, which will bring a radical change. There are many stylistic changes made, and all of them focus on Live Tiles, the building blocks that characterize the Start menu. The blue color that characterized the background of Live Tiles has been replaced with a transparent effect that is uniform throughout the menu. The main application icons (Office, Microsoft Edge) have been changed according to Fluent Design dictates.

New features for the Start menu have also been introduced in dark mode, ready to debut in Windows 10.

New Multitasking Features in Windows 10

As it happens on smartphones, open applications can also be multitasking on PCs. Pressing ALT + TAB simultaneously gives you access to the multitasking management panel, which allows you to see which applications are running. There has been quite a significant change in the new version of Windows 10: now the multitasking panel shows all open tabs in Microsoft Edge, not just the main one.

New taskbar and new notifications

The changes don’t stop with the new Start menu and multitasking. Microsoft has also introduced changes to the taskbar, giving users more freedom of choice, especially those using the Xbox Game Bar or Your Phone app. An X will be added in the notifications at the top right corner of the screen so you can remove them all with one click.

When the new features come out

All of these new features may be released by Microsoft in the coming months, possibly with the arrival of Windows 10 November Update 2020, the second core update coming later this year. However, if you are curious to try them out, you can join the Insider program, but with the risk that some new features could cause computer problems.

This solution is only recommended for a slightly more experienced audience.
