After watching the Netflix hit series, it’s time to go for the blow: here are some similar titles to watch on streaming.

Bridgerton is the series that marked the holiday season: it was released on Netflix on December 25 and had a record number of views in just a few days. This result was partially expected, as the series is the first of many projects resulting from a multi-million agreement between the streaming platform and Shondaland, the company of the famous American producer and showrunner Shonda Rhimes.

Bridgerton managed to gain an audience in just a few days thanks to a mixture of winning elements that are also found in other famous series and novels: she is the secret narrator of world events like Gossip Girl, there is a family made up of different but related sisters like in Little women, there is an English society from the past reminiscent of Jane Austen’s novels, a bit of Marie Antoinette Sofia Coppola style, and some points for reflection such as the role of women in society and beyond. These are just some of the features of a television series centered on the love of Daphne and the Duke of Hastings. Those who finished the series and want to continue its story have a lot to choose from. Here are some similar titles.

Downton Abbey on Amazon Prime Video

Set in the fictional county of Downton Abbey, the series tells the story of the high society, particularly the Crawley family. The action begins after the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, where some family members lose their lives. Turns out their wealth will be inherited by their cousin Matthew, a Manchester lawyer, a character who gets the whole family into trouble.

Like Bridgerton, Downton Abbey is a costume series set during the reign of George V, while Bridgerton takes place during the Regency (early 19th century). The story is told in a captivating way, and this and other features have earned the show numerous awards and honors. Queen Elizabeth and Kate Middleton are also reportedly fans of the show.

Downton Abbey is available on Prime Video.

Belgravia on Epix

Belgravia is a costume miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Julian Fellows. The action takes place at the beginning of the 19th century and begins on June 15, 1815, when the Duchess of Richmond organizes a ball to which the entire English aristocracy is invited. For many, however, it will be the last chance to have fun, as the bloody Battle of Waterloo will take place the next day. The series is full of romantic intrigue, sumptuous costumes, gossip and class struggle that are sure to delight fans of Bridgerton and Downton Abbey.

Belgravia has yet to make its way to Italy, but is available on some foreign platforms such as Epix.

Gossip Girl on Netflix

The third and final series (but the list is still long) that fans of intrigue, mystery and gossip may appeal to is Gossip Girl. Here we find a modern version of the mystery writer Miss Whistledown of Bridgerton. She is a blogger whose identity no one knows, comments on what is happening in the world in a witty and piquant manner, but most of all she discovers the secrets of a group of friends from her online diary.

Gossip Girl is a modern version of Bridgerton, available on Netflix.
