What does it mean to have a flagged WhatsApp account

You can report a WhatsApp account that does not comply with the Terms of Use. Here’s what you risk

You can no longer log into your WhatsApp account, and you get a message every time you try to log in, warning you that you have been banned. What happened? It’s very simple: you violated the WhatsApp regulations and most likely a user reported you to the application engineers. Not many people are aware of it, but like all online services, WhatsApp has rules that you must follow or your profile will be deleted.

Another thing few people know about is that users can report WhatsApp profiles. It is an in-app tool that can, if necessary, be used against an account that is sending spam (e.g. people using WhatsApp to promote their store) or inappropriate content. If you report a profile to WhatsApp, they will analyze it and decide what to do. The penalty may be light (ban for several days) or heavy (profile removal) depending on the severity of the offense. Here’s everything you need to know about Flagged WhatsApp Accounts.

Why is our WhatsApp account flagged

The reasons why our WhatsApp account is flagged by other users vary widely, and they all relate to our behavior in the messaging app. For example, we may have argued with our group of friends and they retaliated by reporting our profile to WhatsApp. Or we use the account for activities that violate the Terms of Use. For example, we have an online store and send messages to contacts with discounts and promotions. If we do this very often, it may become confused with spam and cause people who receive the message to report us. Another important reason is sending inappropriate content to people we don’t know.

How to report a WhatsApp account

If, instead of reporting, you want to report a profile that violates the WhatsApp Terms of Use, you can do so in seconds. The procedure is as follows: enter the conversation, click on the name at the top (if registered on your smartphone) or on the number and on the new page that opens, scroll down until you find the entry “Report contact”. A window will pop up with a warning to the side saying “Block contact and remove messages from this chat”. Pressing the “Report” button will send the report to WhatsApp and the user will be blocked from sending messages to us.

Sending a report does not, however, delete your WhatsApp profile. Application engineers only start analyzing user behavior after they receive at least several submissions from different people. If your actions are found to be in conflict with the App Terms of Use, your account may also be terminated.

What happens if you have a reported WhatsApp account

The answer in this case is very simple: you risk being banned from WhatsApp. What does it mean? This means that you will not be able to use your account for a certain period of time (if the ban is temporary) or forever (if the ban is permanent). If you are banned from using WhatsApp, you are removing your personal profile: we say goodbye to all chats with friends, photos sent and received, and all multimedia content. And there’s no way to get your account back: once banned, it’s unlikely that app technicians will decide to get back on track. The only solution is to buy a SIM card and set up a new profile on your e-mail account.
