New Vodafone top-ups: € 8 effective and Giga Ricarica 20. Here’s what they are and when to use them
With the return of the standard € 5 and € 10 top-ups, another new Vodafone top-up is on its way. The € 8 denomination and the new Giga Ricarica 20 will be available soon. Sales will start on February 25, 2020 on the official website, at Vodafone locations and in some districts, including bars and tobacco shops.
An 8 Euro Top-up will allow you to have 8 Euro of real credit in order to have the amount needed to support the expenses of your monthly calling plan. At the same time, it will be possible to use the Ricarica Giga 20, which will have different functions and is specially designed for those who need more gigabytes per month for their data connection. Also new is the effective top-up worth 20 euros, which can only be done with a clear PIN, the new top-up method launched by Vodafone in recent months.
New Vodafone top-ups: what are their features
From February 25, an effective Vodafone top-up worth 8 euros will be available. You will be able to top up on the official website, at physical Vodafone points of sale, and at certain authorized stores in the region, such as tobacco shops, bars and kiosks.
In addition to this, there is also the Giga Ricarica 20, which includes EUR 19 of telephone traffic and 1 gig of data to be used per month. The Giga Ricarica 20 falls into the “special boost” category that has generated so much discussion lately. The reason for the discussion is the activation of the premium service for the price of 1 or 2 euro. A service that is not useful to end users in most cases
A top-up of € 20 will still be active, which can only be done through a system with a PIN in plain text. These can be purchased from authorized retailers and work much like scratch cards: if you want to buy a € 20 top-up, you need to inform the seller, who will give you a receipt with a 16-digit PIN code that you can use by calling 42010.
What are the Vodafone top-up options?
In light of these changes, let’s take a look at all of Vodafone’s top-up options starting on February 25. First, you will be able to use the so-called Giga Ricarica 5, under which you can get 4 euros of real traffic; Giga Ricarica 10, under which you can get 9 euros of real telephone traffic; and Giga Ricarica 20, with which you can get 19 Euros of real traffic.
In these cases, the reduced euro will be used to activate additional gigabytes of data valid for a month, which can also be used for roaming in Europe. These top-ups are available in the “Top-ups” section of the website, in the My Vodafone app, at points of sale with the “Top up at checkout” option, at Lottomatica Servizi ticket offices and shops, and at SisalPay points.
If you perform two Giga Boosts on the same day, the Giga Boosts will accumulate, but if you perform a Giga Boost on different days, the Giga from the second boost will be replaced with the rest of the Giga.
This type of top-up has met with harsh criticism from consumers and even a warning from AGCOM, but instead of eliminating this type of top-up, Vodafone has brought back the classic € 5 and € 10 effective top-ups. In addition, top-ups of 20, 30, 50 and 100 euros are also possible. Additionally, via the app, you can choose top-ups from a minimum of 5 euros to a maximum of 200 euros.
